The Pickaway County CSEA enforces child, medical and spousal support. Enforcement methods are used when the person ordered to child support fails to pay the court ordered amount or fails to pay a support arrearage. An arrearage is the accumulation of unpaid child support. In addition, enforcement methods are used when health insurance is not being provided as ordered by the court. It should be noted, that all support orders in Ohio require support to be withheld via "proper deduction order" (wage or bank withholding).
Child Support Enforcement Agencies are able to use "Administrative" enforcement remedies as well as "Judicial" enforcement remedies.
Administrative Enforcement remedies include:
- Withholding of child support from wages/earnings, unemployment benefits, workers compensation benefits, social security benefits, disability benefits, bank accounts, pensions and lottery winnings
- Intercepting federal and state tax refunds
- Reporting the delinquent parent to credit bureaus
- Suspending drivers, recreational and professional licenses
- Featuring delinquent parents on wanted posters
- Freezing and seizing assets held in a financial institution
- Placing liens on certain property
- Issuing an order to require the payer to seek work
Judicial Enforcement may include referring a case to Court for any of the following:
- Contempt Charges
- Misdemeanor or Felony Non-Support
- Probation violation in a misdemeanor or felony case
