The Pickaway County Child Support Enforcement Agency collaborated with the local Courts and the Pickaway County JOBS One-Stop office to develop a seek work program that began in February 2005. The Pickaway County seek work program targets child support obligors who are facing contempt charges and child support obligors that have a brand new order to pay child support who are unemployed or underemployed.
The program consists of the Magistrate or Hearing Officer issuing a court order for the child support obligor to work one-on-one with a case manager at the JOBS One-Stop office to find employment. In addition, the court will order the obligor to attend a follow up hearing to report his/her progress on finding employment. The case manager at the JOBS One-Stop location assesses the obligor's skills and abilities and creates an Individual Employment Plan for each obligor. While obtaining employment is the primary focus of this program an obligor may be required to attend some classes on job seeking, resume writing, interviewing or job ethics. The case manager maintains weekly contact with the obligor and requires regular contact from the obligor including a job log of all of the contacts the obligor has made. The case manager follows up on a percentage of these contacts to make sure that the obligor is truly job seeking. The case manager from the JOBS One-Stop office attends the follow up court hearing to report the outcome of the obligor's employment success.
